Why isn't this on the front page of the Guardian? For that matter, why isn't it on the front page of every newspaper everywhere? With all due respect to the McCann family tragedy, isn't this a bigger story?

Incidentally, a key factoid in the article is way out; probably a typo of "year" for "day". Thames Water has 13 million customers, using an average of 160 litres per day, a total of 2 billion litres per day. According to the article, the Ilulissat glacier is melting at 15 million cubic metres of ice - 15 billion litres of ice - per hour. That's something over 300 billion litres or water per day, or enough in 2.5 days to supply all of Thames Water (not just London) with tap water (not just drinking water) for a year.

Update: put another way, according to a quick back-of-envelope sum, this one glacier is raising global sea levels by 0.3 millimetres per year. It's only one of a large number of glaciers draining the Greenland ice sheet.
