Went swimming in Stockport Grand Central Leisure pool with my lovely boy, followed by Transformers at the cinema. Just great.
But although the pool was not very chlorinated - my eyes are fine - and although I used a decongestant nasal spray before we went, I have ended up with terrible nasal congestion. Breathing through my nose is totally impossible, and I have sinus pressure building up. This started happening to me about 4 years ago, not every time I swim in a chlorinated pool but often enough to put me off swimming (which is Very Bad). Swimming in the sea, in lakes, or in rivers is no problem at all; it's something to do with the chlorine. I'll take some oral decongestants, and I'll somehow get to sleep, but I'll feel really quite crappy for a couple of days. Any suggestions?
I once went to my GP about this, who suggested a nasal spray which doesn't seem to have any more effect than the over-the-counter remedy I was already using.
